Zermatt (connected with the Italian Cervinia) is the highest ski resort in Europe and one of the largest ski centers in the southwestern part of Switzerland. The slopes on the Plateau Rosa glacier allow you to ski all year round. The resort is connected by the glacier and the Theodul Pass with the Italian Cervinia and Valtournenche, which is a total of over 300 km of pistes. Downhill runs at an altitude of 1,524-3,899 m a.s.l. are among the highest located in Europe. From the top of Klein Matterhorn we can admire the views of Mont Blanc or Monterosa, and at its foot we can find the highest located snow park in Europe. There is a common ski pass in the resorts, which, at an additional cost, also allows you to ski on the Italian side. The town of Zermatt itself is located at an altitude of 1,620 m a.s.l. at the foot of the Matterhorn (4,478 m above sea level) and is not accessible to car traffic except for special electric vehicles.
